Fr. Ivan Kolodiy, The Living Rosary – UKRAINE
Dear Members, Benefactors and Apostles of the Living Rosary,
We offer our congratulations on the solemnity of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Our King! May He protect you and your family in these perilous times! I will celebrate an Easter Novena of Divine Liturgies for you and your family, for the Living Rosary staff, for our sick and suffering members, for all our benefactors, and our faithful and religious members throughout the world.
These Sacred Masses will begin on Easter day and continue for nine days. I ask Jesus Christ Who is risen from the dead to bless you with strong health and abundant blessings, both spiritual and material. May Christ Our Redeemer defend you from every evil! May He grant to all Peace of Soul!
We visited the monastery at Hoshiv, Western Ukraine, which was established in 1570. In the 17th century, the monastery was plundered and destroyed by Tatars and, later, rebuilt at its present location on top of a hill called Yasna Hora, in homage to the Pauline Monastery of Jasna Góra. The present day monastery buildings and Church of the Transfiguration were built at the beginning of the 19th century.
In 1736, the monastery received from its founders the wonder-working icon of the Mother of God, a copy of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa held in the Jasna Góra Monastery in Poland. The monastery was closed by the Soviets in 1950 and could only be restored with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The monastery is once again a popular destination for pilgrims of the Byzantine Rite in Halychyna.
The youth pray the Rosary in church on the 13th of each month in honor of the Virgin Mary of Fatima. They sing in the choir and have great devotion to St. Philomena. We wish to thank the Living Rosary for your prayers and support. Peace be to you!
JESUS IS OUR HOPE UNTO ETERNITY!
